Morehouse Hits Form in Beijing Buildup:
Tim Morehouse jumps to top of U.S. saber fencing rankings
and number 15 in the world following World Cup in Padova, Italy

New York, NY. June 3, 2008—Manhattan-based U.S. Olympian Tim Morehouse returned home Sunday from Padova, Italy, having kick-started his pre-Olympic preparations with an 11th place finish in the second of four major international tournaments leading up to the Beijing Olympic Games in August 2008.

Morehouse was content with his showing in Padova, in a strong Olympic-caliber field, as he seeks to gain momentum in the run-up to the Beijing showpiece. "I was quite happy with my performance", says Morehouse, who returns to the top of the U.S. rankings after several months in the number two spot, "I think I learned some valuable lessons from my bouts in the previous tournament in Spain and hopefully I can keep building momentum." Morehouse will face off again with the cream of world saber fencing in the next two legs of his Olympic build-up in Las Vegas and Mexico.

Fencing has been attracting more media attention during the build up to the upcoming Olympics. Morehouse has appeared in Esquire magazine, in AM New York, and the CW11 morning show. He is also set to appear in an upcoming profile on New York's WNBC television. He is excited to give back to the sport that he says has given him so much. "I think we have a great opportunity to take fencing to the next level in this country," he says, "We are really starting to establish ourselves among the top fencing nations in the world. I'm confident that the U.S. team can build on that progress in China. As a small sport Olympian, I think it is also our responsibility to promote our great sport and athletes whenever we get the opportunity."

When he doesn't have a sword in his hand, Morehouse dedicates his time to working with the non-profit Teach for America, an organization working to close the educational achievement gap in the United States.
